Shift

I woke up this morning with the realization that how I’m going about breaking out of my corporate prison amounts to doing things traditionally. The problem with this is that I want and am entitled to exponential growth in my business and I’m not going to get it by doing things in an ordinary manner.

Coaching one on one is only part of how I’m going to build the empire that will allow me to leave corporate America, that will allow me to have more free time and money, that will allow me to move anywhere in this world I want to, including France.

I’ve been thinking about this all wrong. I’ve been thinking about merely replacing the income I earn working my job solely by finding enough clients to coach one on one and by charging them hourly what it would take to have me making just a little more than I earn at my day job.   My mindset has been all wrong. It is the employer-employee mentality and with it comes the idea that all I need is enough money to pay my bills and maybe just a little more for myself. Also buried in this belief is the fear of rocking the boat if my approach is too “tough love” for my employer (read client).

But this weekend at the Black Life Coaches Business Strategy Summit my mindset got flipped upside down into the mindset of an entrepreneur, of an innovator. Someone who sees the opportunities that are masked in adversity and in familiarity, someone who knows there are many options available. These avenues are not readily apparent to most because the risks and challenges paralyze the ordinary person, but they excite and motivate a true entrepreneur into action.

I am an entrepreneur. I see the opportunity in everything. I take concerted, thoughtful, rapid action to pursue my blessings in disguise and in doing so I am shown who I truly am, who God truly intended me to be. Extraordinary.
