Mourning and Boredom

During an unfulfilling day at the office,
Home alone on a weekday night, or
Over a weekend filled with routine errands and nothingness,
Mourning and boredom kick in.
Mourned:
The loss of my innocence and
For the faded closeness with my brother.
Both left behind when we moved from Highgate Lane.
His childhood and mine so different,
Left a schism not yet mended.
Mourned:
The death of Daddy.
His abuse of my brother and
His kindness toward me
The source of this divide.
Mourned:
The death of Mommy and
A relationship which grew
From distant parent and rebellious teen to
Best friendship between a mother and daughter.
Mourning the loss of what once was.
Now, emptiness remains –
A festering void, lined with tedium.
