Well Wishes of Peace and Love

16805907032_46812021df_bThe last day of 2015 has arrived and I find myself excited for this holiday season to be over. I’m happy that the eve of the new year is upon us not for the celebration and the reveling that will occur at the stroke of midnight, but at my strength in making it through another season without too much pain or loneliness.

I don’t look to the new year in anticipation of what it will bring because I don’t know what things, either “good” or “bad” will unfold in the new year that might leave me feeling overwhelmed, challenged, or temporarily set back. It’s almost the way I view Friday’s anymore. Sure I look forward to Fridays for the freedom and the financial injection they bring, but I don’t put them up on a pedestal anymore wishing the rest of my days away to get to Fridays. And, I don’t save my best moods for them either. The years 2010, 2013, and 2014 held in store tremendous loss for me, so I know that any year, just like any day (including Fridays), can hold their own share of challenges, of things we’d rather have not had occur.

But this is life and I have learned to grab the little joys in the everyday things, each and every day. I have learned not to over anticipate, for this only leads to disappointment. And I continue to learn not to dread, because this only leads to foul moods, actions taken with low energy, and poor quality results.

So as we ring in 2016 I am setting my intention on positively impacting everyone I come into contact with by sharing my insights and my compassion with them and by sending well wishes of peace and love into their lives.
